Through this program, students develop the skills required to assist doctors, treat patients and perform administrative duties in healthcare settings. The program provides both clinical and administrative preparation. Areas of instruction include a foundation in healthcare, medical terminology, vital signs, infection control, medical records management, pharmacology and anatomy & physiology. The curriculum will also include medical malpractice, medical law and ethics, basic administrative skills, electrocardiology, nutrition, and medical laboratory assistant skills. Students in their senior year participate in a clinical internship at an offsite medical facility or other approved locations. If eligible, seniors may also enroll in the EMT certification course. Graduates take the National Medical Assistant Exam for certification and are also eligible for American Heart Association CPR certification at the end of the program.
